The great snow of 2012

I was organizing some photos today and happened on some from the 2+ ft snow we had in Sudbury this year.  For the benefit and amusement of my southern family herewith some photos.

This is what 2+ ft of snow looks like on the deck!  FWIW, the tall pile is our outdoor grill.  It's about 5' high and there's several feet of snow on top of it.

The snow was fairly wet and heavy and absolutely beautiful no the trees.  Fortunately, we didn't loose any trees or large limbs though others were not as fortunate.

A blizzard means both sustained snow at a high rate and sustained winds.  This is what it does to the side of structures on the windward side.

This gives a somewhat better notion of how heavy the snow was on the trees.

While you don't have to mow snow you do have to get it off the porch.  Simple solution is to bring the snow blower up on the porch and go to work.  Sadly with heavy snows our little Toro straggles and it took several hours to get it off the deck.

The roads were closed for a day or so.  The day after the storm stopped everything was back to normal and everyone was back with their everyday live.  Now interestingly, within a week or so after the storm almost all the heavy snow was compacted and gone.
